"The original idea for the RiutBag X35.2 came from user feedback. It read: "I wish my bag could be bigger when I need more space and smaller when I need less." I smiled reading this, thinking it was an impossible request. Yet, through an accident of prototyping, I realised that I could do it. It's all about the buckles and folds. 

So thanks to my RiutBag users who challenged me to make shape-shifting backpacks, the RiutBag X35.2 now exists for my fellow frequent flyers and super commuters. Expanding RiutBag X35.2: How To

Your RiutBag X35.2 arrives folded in compact mode. Push out the base to use in compact mode. To expand, unclip the top buckles, take the handle and give it a shake to get the top to come up for medium mode. To expand fully to 37.5 litres, undo the side snaps. 

Compacting RiutBag X35.2: How To

From maximum size, pull in each side snap fastening to return to medium mode. To get to compact mode, unclip all top buckles and push the top back corners into the top of the RiutBag. Allow the folds from the side snaps to form two arrows inward. Connect the outer front buckles with the strap buckles.

The backpack’s materials are designed to fold and adjust. The main compartment, accessible via double zips in the back panel, opens like a suitcase for easy packing in compact, medium and maximum mode.
